.in vs .com vs .co.in tld for 90-95 percent indian traffic

    Hi dp :) I am planning to start a site which is mainly targetting the indian traffic. So i would like to know which domain name shud be the preferred choice and why (give nice and detailed reasons plz and no one line answers :rolleyes: )

    (a) .in or .co.in tld hosted at indian server
    (b) .in or .co.in hosted at a server i.e. not indian.
    (c).com hosted on indian server
    (d) .com hosted on us server or uk server
    Remember, main target is indian traffic only and i want to rank on better google.co.in and not on .com

    You can register .co.in or .in or .com, you can host it any server. If you host in server which is located in India you will get benefit of local seo in search engine. If you need more information you can raise your question here. I will try to share my knowledge with you.

    .IN definitely looks the best. They're only $3 at name.com too.

    You'll also want to host in India if you want Indian traffic. Google gives more weight to websites that load quickly so that will give you a little SEO boost. (Assuming google.co.in's bot is also in India...)

    When you're looking for Indian traffic only, then you have to host .co.in domain name extension from Indian server.

    According to my experience, you should using .in domain and on Indian server. And second advice, You should develop your site according to Indian users.

    You should go with option (a) .in hosing at Indian server. For optimization purpose .in is better.

    .IN is best for local search. You can also use google webmaster & webmaster setting your targeted traffic country india.
