In violation of policy?

    Hello

We received an email from Adsense today stating that we were breaking the TOS because we were running their ads on a page with "adult" content.

Without revealing our site...to give you some background...we run a general audience website which has a section for users 18 and over. We also have an under 18, college demographics, etc sections to our site as well. The part in question is our Adult section. Its not porn or explicit in nature but its just a seperation of our site for older users 18 and over.

Google says we are in violation and says they will ban the ads from showing up "for the site", as they said. I don't mind removing the ads on that one "adult" page, but are they going to ban google ads from showing up for the entire site? I hope not because its a popular general audience site. Although i feel this is not a page violating their terms, im willing to sacrifice that one page to keep running google ads on the rest of the site. (although i would much prefer to keep things the way they were)

Also, do we have grounds to appeal their decision to classify one of our sites as "adult"? If we lose the google ads on this site, or even that page, a significant revenue loss will occur. There are 1000s of sites out there that only target adults with no adult (i.e. porn) content, which run google ads...we just created a page for the adult users to use.

Please let me know your thoughts. Yes, we did email google and explained our position and waiting for their response. Just wanted to hear what you people felt or might know about similiar situations.

i don't see anything to decide since google already has said it is unapropriate to have adsense on that site with that content.

if you read the TOS,it states that you can't have adult content on a site that has adsense.it doesn't matter if it doesn't have ads on that page or if it is on a sub domain.

all you can do is ask for them to reconsider that content, but since you feel the need to split the site into two sections they might be right in their decision.

can google access the site without registering?

    We don't need the URL.

Are the ads still showing up? If yes, you are fine but REMOVE THEM FROM THE ADULT SECTION (MUST comply with what they told you).

If the ads are no longer showing up, the domain has been banned from AdSense. If you still have your account, consider yourself lucky.

Get it OK'd by AdSense for fun. If they OK it, you're good to go. Don't know why people need the URL to check things out.... OP already knows the problem.

Also: Read the TOS. It clearly says no ads on adult content sites. 18+ section should've turned a light bulb on not to place the ads on there. Be careful in the future, we don't get an unlimited amount of strikes!

It appears the entire domain has been banned as the ads are no longer showing up (took about 5 hours for this to occur) for that url.

Again, our 18+ section is only to give our adult users a section to participate..the content is no different than other areas of our site.

Google CAN access the site without registering.

I really want to appeal this decision because i believe they were a little too quick in judging that it is "adult" or "mature" content. It really just is an area of our site for users 18 and over, just like we have a section of our site for teenagers, college students, etc.

...i know you guys are wondering why not just eliminate the adult section and group everything together...but just trust me it needs to be done that way.

Any other thoughts? (no reply from google yet)

I don't see why you don't want to reveal your URL. If you really want us to help, please give us the URL.
