I hope I am posting this post in right thread. I missed boat in .Com rush, I was so close in buying some names, unfortunately I couldn't see potential and missed the fortune. I know I am late in this game, just want experienced domineer view on .IN TLD. Looks like all the 2, 3 characters are already taken and most of the one word are also taken. I checked few names in auction, on a average domains are being sold above 200-300 range. What is the scope for .IN in India. Indian also relate more with .com than any other tld. Will it end up like .US or it will have value in coming years. Those who own .IN domains or those who have received offers for .IN domain can give advise on this thread. Any advise will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
it ius growing daily .in and .co.in are both grt investment Internet in India is growing very rapidly I bought around 1100 names as myself missed the other boat
Thanks for advise. I have marked for few for booking, hopefully i will book them tonight. I buy domains what i like, i know this is bad practice. One should go with their real potential. For example i got following domains RecycleWasteProducts.com , ResearchContracts.com . i get little parking revenue for these domains. What is the best way to look for .IN domains. count on traffic, foreign brands, emerging market. etc. thanks
the best i would suggest is as of know going for one word generic domains and then seeing the potential in India and what could be liked by the people here
.IN has a better future than .asia. The sale of 3 letter domains are picking up. However If you are looking to buy domains to park it then it ain't worth a lot. If you are looking to purchase .in domains and target the Indian market, then go for it. The reason why people here think otherwise is that generally Indians seldom make purchases online. Rampant piracy is destroying software, movies and the games market. Now that the law is getting stricter, and people are opening their eyes to how piracy is actually destroying economy and supporting terrorism more people are embracing a non pirate life. To the Op's question. Buying a single revenue making .com for $2000 is better than getting 500 .in's.
1. Indian customers are very business-minded. They prefer only .com even if exact name is not available. 2. Indian business industry did not target Indians because they are aware very few have acces to internet. 3. Indian customers prefer to buy/deal physically instead digitally. 4. Indian customers never pay (approx 99%) through Internet. We are Indian and know Indian mindset very well and almost not selling anything in India so far in 10 years - plenty orders but no payments. So why to waste money in .in domains Hope it is clear. Regards, Toniya
I too agree with toniya says and if you are an Indian you will realise that pirated material is easy to acess compared to originals. Having said that, I'm firmly against piracy and do not use a single pirated one. But it is rampant and hence its hard selling anything digital in the Indian market. To improve this situation children need to be educated about the ill effects of piracy right from the school days. Parents need to spy on what their kids do on the computer.
I am Indian and living in Mumbai And what i have seen so far is the growing popularity of Internet and more and more people using internet. People are not ready huge amounts like the others do but surely people are ready to shell out decent amount It is growing and in the next few yrs too come you will see the difference
Thanks everybody for your input. Sooner or later Indians will embrace internet shopping. Indian credit card industry is evolving and has not taken full flight. I was reading a report which said credit card companies are charging very high interest rate in case you miss one minimum balance. Overall Indians have not yet shown full faith and dependence on credit card. Yes, Internet is booming, majority of it is for information purpose, much like US in early 90's. The investment you are making for .IN domains is for future and future can be from 3 to 7 years. What I would like to know what happens when Indian internet market shines, will Indian companies prefer flower.in/flower.co.in or equivalent Hindi phrase phool.com or phool.in. Like shadi.com(Successful site) equivalent to marriage.com. In case Indian market takes off these.IN and .CO.IN will be in demand or equivalents Hindi phrases. I am not in India so don't know, which way trend is going on. Rest I agree right now there is demand for .IN domains as I see three letters going for decent amount. Important thing to note how many .IN and .CO.IN sites are coming every month. If general public starts putting .IN and .CO.IN sites on web than for sure demand will increase. On web presence is important. thx
If i am not wrong peopl are interested in .co.in as this was the first introduced to us. But some way peopl living outside India believe .in's would have grt future considering it is short and easy to remember. What i have found is my .co.in recieves decent traffic instead of my .in's
So that tells me people are aware of .co.In I hope those searching for these .CO.IN domains are real search traffic people not someone looking to register these domains. Thanks. I will check tomorrow on this subject.
I have a personal opinion about domains ( many disagree with it ) I dont think that domains are worth any thing if they arnt 1: one letter dictionary words 2: LLL.com/net I think that domain selling is upto your skills , how you sell it and also your luck i.e if you find a buyer with huge pockets eager enought to buy your domain. As a webdesigner ( so i call my self that LOL ) i think that a domains value is the website you build on it not the domain name its self , domain choice plays a part on the success and value but a small one . For example ; people say that having a "" - "" in between urls is not a good idea but try looking to text-link-ads.com they have 2 of them but their success level is very high. So if you ask me its up to you , if you are skilled enough you can make anything click. Have a nice day. Ace.
Ace - Got your point those are safe and secure rules. Branding a website on a niche. I agree with you, but this needs multiple skill. Only few can do that. Same time you can't ignore the success other country TLD are enjoying (.CN, .EU. .UK and .CO.UK). Even if you get few one word or generic names, I would say this will get you decent money from end user. I think holding few good domains will be ideal option. Thanks
I used to park with SEDO, I moved my domains from SEDO to PARKED. THe reason SEDO was not paying for .INFO domains and the revenue for per click was less than compared to PARKED. I will park them at PARKED.com. Thanks guys.
