I thought "in the beginning" God created everything and man knew about God and worshiped him from the start? So how could Christianity have "started" in AD? Unless the book of Genesis is completely made up and completely misses prehistoric times (neanderthal man) because well let's face it, they didn't KNOW about it. Unfortunately the physical evidence of neanderthal man proves the Book of Genesis (and consequently the bible) is made up and NOT the word of God. Instead it is the word of a flawed creature called man.
AD is an acronym for "Anno Domini"... Latin for "year of our Lord. The Gregorian calendar (the one we use with the BC/AD break) was designed by a monk, and dates the world in years before and after Christ. To say that Christianity (followers of Christ) existed before Christ would be hard to support. The same God is involved, but it was Judeaism in the BC era. The old testament refers to a coming messiah, but the term Christ isnt mentioned. Bottom line answer to the OP, religion is simply mans attempt to commune with a higher power and has existed in one form or another as long as there have been people.
Christianity didn't start when Jesus came. Christianity has been around forever according to the bible. The Old Testament was Christianity prior to Jesus' coming.
- in the AD yrs? there is an religion? As different than BC - who changed it? What were the believers referred as and what was their goal (BC)......if not remittance to the Garden of Eden.
The term Christian wasn't even used until quite a while after Jesus died on the cross. It is merely a term that people have used to coin people who follow and live their lives according to God's Word. The Old Testament is part of God's word and followers of the Messiah (now we know his name was Jesus), there were followers of the Messiah long before Jesus ever was born. You see this throughout the prophetic books, you can see numerous instances in the last part of Isaiah and throughout several places in Jeremiah. Christians in the Old Testament times were seeking and awaiting their savior by faith. Still today, we're saved by faith.
