Nope, you got it bang on. I do employ title tag usage for images (yes, instead of alt) but for plain text, you are good. When you submit to directories make sure you alternate the title tag usage (description too), and try to find a deep linking directory allowing multiple submissions that will allow different title tag usage as well as a link to internal pages of your site.
