You mean validate the XHTML? It's because if your code is very terrible spiders may not be able to understand it. For example if you had a broken table the spider wouldn't be able to tell which cells are related to each other.

    Hi

If You are asking about HTML validation means, Ya Code should be validated as per W3C rules ( for code validation you can use the W3C toolbar). Mostly everybody using the automatic code generator like Dream Viewer for the templates. At that case there is more chance to the mistakes. That mistakes can affect the crawling of spider.

If You are asking about the Form validation means, that is not that much important but it will helps to reduce the unwanted entries or mistakes from the visitors

    regards

    Kumar

As long as you are being spidered OK, you don't HAVE to validate. I has a site with FP code and had numerous errors in the code, I made it all compliant and it made no difference to my SERP's, PR or spider frequency, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Google does not require HTML Validation. Many of the W3 rules are obsolete and in SEO, you will break rules for an advantage.

HTML Validation is therefore not for SEO but quality control over programmer.

Validation is not a must or huge factor in SEO. It would just facilitate the crawling of your pages.... This has led us to talk about its importance...

So, if you are beginning a new site... try to keep the validation... if you find validation errors of an established site... taking time to make it validated may not be advisable. Use that time for more fruitful SEO stuff... then SE bots will find their ways to crawl your site better...

Ideally you want your site to display properly in all browsers. I use Firefox primarily and I still come across a lot of sites that do not work properly in Firefox.

It's nearly an impossible tax to have perfect code. The goal is not perfection, it's to have good code that displays properly and doesn't prevent the Search Engine Bots that matter from crawling all your pages.

Valid markup has nothing to do with SEO really. It does not effect serps. I wish it did. It is important to have proper semantic markup like htags though.

Proper code is good business. It separates the men from the mice.
