    Hi,

I have a website for my, small business within a small niche and I'm doing pretty well with my search results, 8th for my main keyword phrase in Google, but since it is just a small market I only get a few visitors from Google.

I, like I guess anyone else, would like to get to the no1 position but in my case this should not be too hard. When you look at my competitors they all have, what I call, hobby like websites (not like mine is any better, I just hope it is...), with little or no SEO and backlinks. I have more links from related sites than most, if not all, my competitors, and I think I did a pretty good job with the SEO and that together with links and relevant content should be the mixture for a number 1 position right? but It does not

The only thing I can think of that I did not do (yet) is to register my domain name for a longer period than 1 year (trust).

Could ya'll look at my site and give me one or two tips?

I would like to add that I have something that I might have to look into.
I would love to hear your opinion....

when I search for for instance bamboo fly rod blanks I end up at position 13
but when I search for bamboo fly blanks I end up on position 1
the page that is shown is /bamboo-fly-rod-blanks.html

    the same for:

Bamboo Fly rods where I position lower than when I search for bamboo fly.

I rank better for searches with more results from google.

does this mean I use the word rod or rods to often throughout my site?
I already say too often because when I checked the word rod(s) it has a higher keyword density than for instance fly and bamboo.

anyway would I love to hear some thoughts or ideas to try and refine my site

    Thanks

First of all, do something about the speed of your site.
When I accessed it from US, I thought the site is down. I waited about 10secs
and as I was about to close the window, it came up. I don't think your visitors
    will be that patient.

I like the colors and layout.

    Re: SEO
you need to add more keywords: rod, rods, bamboo, etc.

Just put the highest frequency keywords first, two words, then single words

You can easily have 20 keywords without any problems from google.

    Hi,

I can help you. You are thinking along the wrong lines. The reason you do worse in the rankings for searches including Rod is because it introduces a wider set of matches which will be more competitive. It is not unusual to list higher for a search with more results than another where you list lower. Its about the relativie competitiveness of the words you are searching on.

Before I try to give SEO advice, I would advise you to fix your code or hosting because from the UK the site takes far too long to load. Visitors will leave before they see anything.

    Good luck

Maybe the speed was a temporary problem. It came up fairly fast for me, not as fast as it could for sure, but no where near 10 seconds.

Could be that it's slowing during high traffic times of the day. Not sure...
