I have been doing SEO for about a week now and have been able to get my site on the first page of MSN and second of Yahoo but still not in the top 1000 on Google. I have followed several "guides" that I found on line and used the information from each that was similar so that I wasnt too far off. But I still can't seem to get my site high on Google. If anyone knows of good info that may help can you please let me know. Thanks, Mark
OK, thanks Crazy Rob. I thought I did something wrong and got banned because the others are already there.
hi mark, im also "new" in the field of seo, as far as i have read, its an aging delay of google, it takes time b4 they index your pages, just continue on bulding you links... ayt???
There are many seotizing tips on these forums. With time you will gradually learn the little things that can make the difference. It is definately a time taking process
Definitely it's gonna take a while so if you are ranked in Yahoo! and MSN then that means you are off to a good start. Good luck!
Sorry if I seem impatient but I just retired and this is going to be my business. I thank all of you for your help and suggestions so far. I will be kicking around these forums pretty heavily from now on now that I have found them. Hope to talk with you all again soon.
I'm with CR here... Patience! You will get there. As for DP? SUCK IT ALL UP!!! Lots of good folks and info here!
Have patience. Don't land up doing something wrong trying to make it faster. Get some good links and then get more. Read the webmaster guidelines provided by google and make sure you follow. Finally, keep posting and asking here and when you know a lot, HELP ME! Regards jeet
Great start! Start looking at some of your other pages, write some articles, build links, check the competition. Once your picked up, let it sit for at least another week before you do anything else. I like to work on a few pages at the same time. I will try one technique on one page and another on the other one. e.g. one page i will optimise my title tag and on another i would try doing something different to some headings. Since i would know how each page improved or declined in rankings after the next indexing, i could determine which is the best menauver for my next move on those pages and others. That way you also do less damage. And you can track what did what or what did nothing. Make sure you keep copies of your pages before you 'optimised them'. It makes it much easier to fix any mistakes.
Hi Mark, If you're getting those kinds of results after only one week, you're definitely off to a good start. I'm somewhat envious. A couple of tips for ranking in Google: 1. Focus more on off-page factors than on-page factors. Both are important, but IMO Google places more weight on off-page factors. This means obtaining quality backlinks, using keywords in your anchor text, etc. There's a ton of information available to help you with this, both in this forum and elsewhere on the web. 2. Use the Google Sitemap. This will assist Google in locating and indexing your site. Best of luck! Sam
