Hello guys, I need some help: So as it turns out whenever I update my name servers it takes about 48-hrs max to update across the web for all of my users I am using the DNS manager that go daddy currently offers, is there a way that this propagation time cut be sliced in half? is there anything that I could do to speed things up or another DNS managing program? Thanks for all the help
Hello there, There are a couple of tricks you can do. Make sure you plan ahead! A couple days before you need to change name servers, go into the domains zone file and lower the ttl's (time to live) to about an hour (3600). What this does, is tells peoples caches to check back after an hour. Once you have changed the name servers around, make sure you increase the times. Chris
Other than what RHS-Chris said there is not much you can do other than sit tight and wait for DNS propagation to finish.
Chris thanks for your response, Im a little lost, ok so now using easyDNS, i get the following option in regards to what you mentioned above: Start of Authority SOA RECORDS Expire after: 3 weeks Minimum time to live: 3 hours. So what do I need to change in there? The minimum time to live? Thanks!
