I have been doing some link building for my site. I used "link popularity check" and have seen the overall links grow from 0 to about 70 in a short period of time but I don't have one google backlink. Where can I go to get some google backlinks and why are none of the others considered backlinks through google. I have looked at several other sites backlink information and it always seems that google has the least backlinks in comparison to all other search engines. What's the deal?
This is perfectly normal, don't worry about it. Google only update their backlinks periodically, and only show a small subset of them. Stick with Yahoo and MSN for determining your link popularity. Cryo.
I believe Google waits for your links to 'age' before they count them - I am not sure how long but should find out soon. My site has been up in its present form with new links for about 4 months now, I read somewhere it is 6 months to age - this may be wrong but the only backlink showing to my site is about a year old.
Bikeman - just to reinforce what the others have told you - Google indeed is "conservative" in their reporting of backlinks. They only show a small portion of links that they know about -- for reasons only they know....
Thanks for the help. It is frustrating to keep on linking and only see a limited number of links show for google but the site is hardly a month old now.
