    I think this is not a good idea because .net is very much complected and according to seo hosting html site is much better than any other than.

    .net or .com don't make any sense in hosting.

    .IN domains are on the rise as Indian population is warming up to Internet boom and internet utilization is on the rise. From Search engine perspective, in my experience I have noticed that Google has started giving preference to .IN domains over other gTLD's in local search results, however the same is not true when one does a global search (on Google.com)

    It would be interesting to know that Google.com redirects to Google.co.in (and not google.in) while yahoo.in redirects to in.yahoo.com !

    No its not good... as it isnt hosted in the USA which means you probably wont get much traffic from SEs in USA.

    If you want to target Indian market I think you should go for country specific tld .in or .co.in

    Seems to be a lot of confusion in this thread.......if your target market is india then hosting in india is a good idea. If your domain has a .in extension then imo you don't have to worry about hosting in india.

    If you hosting is targeted towards India then you should use .in hosting otherwise use .com

    He's not asking about .in domain names.

    He's asking about sites being hosted physically in India, in datacentres there.

    Personally I'm not sure what pings are like from India to UK/US/NL/DE/FR but those places so I can't comment, but I'd imagine hosting in .IN is more expensive than Western equivalents due to infrastructure. I'd expect a better SLA in the west too.
