I came across a post here which was not in the favor of the .IN domains stating the "marketablity" of the .IN extension and so, I was just wondering what do you guys think of a .IN extension? Good enough for an important project targeting people across the world?
Are you just wanting to develop the name for a site or are you thinking about resale values of .in extention as well? If you're just targeting India, I think it's a great extention for that. If you're looking to target the whole world, the .in might not be the best extention for you.
Well IMO, I don't like .IN domains since it's a country-code domain (India). I liked to have a branded one, a .COM one..
well, the most popular domain extensions are .com,.net and .org and it depends on what content you have in your site.. If your site represents a Company, usually you have to use .com.. If it is a network or tech related.. use .net and If it is a non-profit organization, use .org Using that kind of extensions tells that your site is for local viewing only,(Usually promoted locally, based on the country).. But then again, its your choice...
Well, .in prices and demand have risen and would continue to rise with India emerging a good market and audience from global perspective. Also, if your domain name rhyms with .in, it's pretty. I've come across such domains and are easy to remember.
A .com name is the best for targetting a world wide audience......the others .net, .org, .info, .biz, .mobi, and the other country specific domains.........not so much.
It depends on the domain name that you have. Smub here had idk.in ( now sold to another person) and I, for one, have no issues in recollecting that name ( That is how the name makes it to this thread ) If you were to purely look at it from the marketing POV, then a .com would be the way to go. But if you were selling Indian products to the world or something like that, a .in may not be such a bad idea, but you might lose type in traffic to the com
