Let's just say for example, I run a hotel, obviously I already have a website for it, but I thought it would be a good idea to do a video to upload to Youtube as well as embedding the video onto my own website. In a nutshell, would the Youtube video help with my search engine optimization and help me amongst other measures, to give my hotel website a better ranking in the search engines? Would the Page Rank backlink of Youtube help me any as well? If you could put your answer in a nutshell, how would you explain the positive benefits of utilizing a video to promote my business or product? I am an SEO Specialist and I make videos in my spare time. There are two ways to get a backlink at youtube. One is by putting your url in the video description to the right. The other is by being the top 5 webpages that host the video, listed under Statistics & Data. Both ways carry the nofollow attribute in your link. Therefore, the search engine optimization you'll get is based on how the engines read this attribute. Maybe msn doesn't honor the nofollow attribute, maybe they do. My guess is that the nofollow backlink is just a low quality vote for your site. I am not aware of any good benefits of video for SEO. The best thing to do with a business video is submit it to youtube with your url in the description and, of course, in your video. Add your video to at least 10 other webpages to get high ranking with keyword searches at youtube.com. The positive benefits of using a video to promote your business is the traffic you get from people seeing or hearing your url in the video. That's the only benefit I am aware of. The best thing to do is to make the video a hit using your talent and add it to as many webpages as you can. This will give you top exposure at youtube.com for your video's keywords. To give you an idea of the hits youtube videos get: The Most Viewed of All Time has over 2 billion views. The 20th Most Viewed has over 113 million views. Videos are worth making if you deserve to have a Most Viewed video!
