In a few ocasions I had the opportunity to talk to marines and soldiers that have been in Iraq.
As you can guess I asked them what they thought about the war on Iraq, was it a mistake going there, ... was it a just war for America to start?
The answers I got did not impress me.
What do you think they answered?

I think they answered that the US doesn't support them enough, and therefore it hurts their ability to do their job...

Here is what the marine said:

"Wouldn't you like to see Iraq for free (without spending any money)?"

The soldier answered with deep silence. I explain him my questions in different ways, but he still couldn't get them........

Ooooh, it's painful to ask but, are they enlisting the young and dumb so they can control them easier?

Do you often make up your own stories to bash soldiers? What a shame to sink to a new level. Not surprising

You know, I really tire of this bullshit. You're acting like a couple of childish idiots; speaking about something you've never done, nor, I would venture, had the selflessness to ever consider doing. Soldiers, sailors, air force, marines - these people bleed. Argue the causes, argue politics all we want - I am categorically against this war and what the president has gotten us into - but must it stoop to this puerile bullshit?

    Fuck me. Grow up.

Sorry Gtech that you and may be some others did not like it, but it is the TRUTH, ....Sadly.
For me lying is a Sin that mother nature does not forgive.
I have no reason to make up storries, it was my experience with just a few, (about 8 people).
May be if I talk to a hundred or a few hundred or a thousand I could get somebody who can "reason" better than those I met so far.
Till then my impression stays the same - based on facts.

About the making up of stories: This admin has that reputation, that you Gtech, again won't admit. Even faced with the facts.

The first is a question. The second is a statement, requiring the first is answered.

    What, exactly, are you doing?

ST12, if you don't like soldiers and feel the need to make something up about them, more power to you. I find it disrespectful, but there are some here who get their kicks doing so. I can assure you that the seven years I was in, and the soldiers, sailors (I don't know any Marines curently) and airmen (my son is in the Air Force), I've never seen any sit around and self-loathe.

The story I posted above confirms this as well. You are guilty of doing exactly what the soldier pointed out. Stop, please. You aren't doing anyone any favors and unless *you* or *someone* you know is actually serving, it doesn't affect you.

NorthPointaiki, thanks buddy! I always admire how you stick up for our brothers and sisters serving, having been in the military yourself. Very well said!

As a Christian, Gtech I have to follow the "Love your neighbor, love your enemies, love each other" teaching.
Following this simple logic and as you should guess, I don't hate the soldiers.
    I don't hate anybody.

What do I gain if I hate?
    Nothing.
    If I love I gain a lot.

I want the soldiers alive and well. I want the people all over the world alive and well too.

If I was a hater, I would support the ugliest deed "WAR". But as a Christian I cannot support it.
Many have chosen to be firstly Republicans and Democrats and then Christians. I have not.

I live in the Washington DC area and happen to speak with soldiers and ex soldiers quite a bit.

Their perspectives are as diverse as the rest of the population. Thank goodness for that. That is what a free nation is all about.

Some support current policy. Some are against it. Some are against it...but will go back and serve if required.

There is no single perspective on this situation.

    Exactamundo my friend!

"Lawrence Korb, left, a former assistant secretary of Defense in Ronald Reagan's administration, is a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank in Washington."

I don't trust "liberal think tanks" and their propaganda when it comes to matters of such great importance. In fact, one might suggest that if there were any morale issues, it's because of nutjobs like these guys and the media in general, who seek to pretend to know what is best and who have actually stepped over the line recently by degrading our troops.

    From my post above:
