Move the top google ad's to just above the box with the youtube video...make the border black with white text. The rectangle box to the right I think should be white with white border and blue text. Try giving that a shot. -Scott
1) Firstly. The videos you're showing you don't have rights to. 2) Secondly. From an SEO standpoint, you need more text explaining the videos you're showing. 3) Check out this MUST READ ADSENSE ARTICLE
You're allowed to embed YouTube videos whether you have the rights or not. As long as it's not hosted on your site's server.
Yeah, I'm sure I'm not doing anything illegal here. But thank you for you're concern. Thanks scott for the suggestions, i'll give it a try.
http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=71011 Inappropriate Content: Commercial use on YouTube We've recently updated our Terms of Use to clarify what kinds of uses of the website and the YouTube Embeddable Player are permitted. We don't want to discourage you from putting the occasional YouTube video in your blog to comment on it or show your readers a video you like, even if you have general purpose ads somewhere on your blog. We will, however, enforce our Terms of Use against, say, a website that does nothing more than aggregate a bunch of embedded YouTube videos and intentionally tries to generate ad revenue from them.
On another note. You should ad a 336x280 ad unit into your post. You didn't read the post I provided you did you? It's been tested and proven over a bizillion times that AdSense in your posts perform better than AdSense in the navigation. Also: The description of your ads should be black. Just my two cents. Thanks for the help ttomp, I think I will be okay since not all of the site is youtube videos, but there is other content as well. But I will keep that in mind. I did give that post a read, but I didn't really find anything new or useful in it.
Well dude. If you didn't find anything useful then I am so sorry. But it's been proven that having a 336x280 ad unit under the title of your post is the hottest and highest ctr spot on the average website. Take my advice or leave it. Dude. It's up to you man. But I am telling you, 1 years AdSense experience, over 300 hours of research, probably more. I think I know what I am talking about. But hey. You can put your adsense ad block in the sidebar and leave the description color a blue color. That's fine. Maybe you'll get a high CTR. I know it will be higher then you had it before at least since you got rid of the borders and all. But trust me. If you simply put the ad block under the post title you'll do way better. Just be sure to have separation between the two. By a border and maybe the date of your post. But who am I kidding? You didn't find anything useful in my post that's been proven by hundreds and thousands of others. That means you obviously know a better way. With that being said, I guess you can disregard all of my proven advice since your way obviously works way better. (Sarcasm) Not trying to be a dick dude. But if you want more money coming your way, you'll eventually take my advice. I'll put it in simple terms. When you look at a website after searching keywords on a search engine, do you go to that site and look straight at the sidebar? No. You go to the site and look at the post title and then the content under it. If the post is good enough you may look at the sidebar. But more then likely you'll just click out of the site. With that being said, do you think a higher CTR area would be in the navigation of your site, or under the post title of the content provided? __________
Geez! Not all advice is going to work for everyone. And magic Ad placements aren't magic for all types of content and layout. I only use that "tried and true" 336x280 ad on a fraction of pages. I for one often purposefully use borders to set the ads apart. Why? I want people to know they are ads. I still get TONS of clicks. But if people know they are clicking on an ad, they are less likely to be disappointed when it goes to, guess what, a sales site or something like that. They know that's where they are going when they click. Thus not as many frivolous clicks which in turn can translate to higher earnings per click.
Not being a dick. Just trying to save you time because I know the frustrations of trying placement after placement and having nothing work. AdPubster Like I said in my first post. "But it's been proven that having a 336x280 ad unit under the title of your post is the hottest and highest ctr spot on the average website." Also Pubster - I am discussing ways to increase CTR. Not ways to let people know ads are ads. The title of this post isn't, "How can I let people know my ads are ads?" It's "Improving CTR on this site?" Just so you know... Still though. Good post with good info. But next time you try to shoot someone down at least be decently knowledgable in discussing the correct subject. ____
Ok ttomp, I went ahead and went with your suggestions. (Might take a few mins to update for you to see.) I'll try this out for a while.
Put your ads in the actual content. Example: JJ Redick chokes - Airball Layup Sports, Videos - Tuesday, August 26, 2008 1:31 - 0 Comments ADVERTISEMENT VIDEO I'd also change the black background to a white one.
