I am just trying the following method for improving CTR for poor performing keywords across adwords a/c. I basically target ads towards US demographics, but had an entry barrier due to high minimum bids. Hence changed the targeting to Other countires such as Australia, UK, etc. (excluding USA). I saw a dramatic increase in CTR from 0.5% to 21%. Now advice, if I change the targeting back to USA, will the CTR's for keywords still hold?
If your sites are being visited by Australians, I'd suspect Australian targeted ads would work best ... what is the make-up of your visitors? If they are all non-U.S. based, targeting ads towards Americans will have poor results.
Product is basically for everyone, but sells more in the USA. The idea is to improve the CTR by targeting to non-US demographics (to overcome the high minimum bid barrier), and eventually change the targeting to USA to generate better conversions
