"Improve your Landing Page Quality"

Discussion in 'Google AdWords' started by Columbo, May 12, 2008.

I've been tinkering with my AdWords account. I've managed to get min CPC for my keyword from $5.00 to $1 to $0.50. My QS is still "poor."

I'm a cats whisker from making the campaign profitable, just need to get the min CPC a little lower. But I'm struggling with my landing page (see below for what AdWords says). Any advice for tweaking landing pages?

Any tips for getting landing pages QS up?

    Cheers C.

I just read the "Landing Page Handbook" by Marketing Sherpa. Tons of good information in there. Post the link or PM me. I'd be happy to take a look at it.

Thanks for the offer ebyun84, but think I've cracked it. Google is telling me the issue of QS is down to poor landing page relevancy, but it seems it's nothing of the sort...

I've just uploaded the exact same landing page to a TOTALLY unrelated site. Set up a new campaign lo and behold min CPC $0.05 / Great QS.

Quite ironic really, I can get great QS on a totally unrelated site, but on a well established site bang on theme I'm getting penalised.

It must be an issue with the domain history as used the original domain a few months back, but always with good QS, CTR etc. Google moves in mysterious ways.

Nice work indeed. I got more about landing pages and such from this than I did from Google. I wasn't aware that it's possible to lower your cpc like that. I guess I need to find a way to make the time to pay closer attention to stuff. Here's a related question for you: On this landing page: http://www.dvdknight.com/latest I drove over 11,000 visits yesterday, most of them targeted. Of those visits exactly 0 converted. Why?

Do you know at what point they dropped out, did they click on a film?

IS the fact there is no currency putting them off?

Have you looked at the search query report?

I can see they are clicking and looking at films in my admin section. When I go look at the "product viewed" report it goes up from one hour to the next on most of the films, especially the latest releases.

No currency? The price is listed right there if that's what you mean.

    Which one?

Changing a domain to a new one will instantly reset your campaign history to brand new. This is the oldest trick in the book but still works well.
