Improve open percentage of mailing list

I just started my ezine a few weeks ago. And I find my follow ups have terrible open rate that vary from 24% to 44%.

I use aweber and my spam assassin scores are all below 1. The spam score analyzer says it's ok for your messages to send if they have 5 point or below but sometimes I see emails from aweber are in spam folder.(even emails from some big names!) I doubt if this spam score anlyzer really works.

And I wonder what's the open percentage of your email list? Any good advice to improve it? Thanks!

actually i would say 24-44% is a high rate. normally people will rarely open the advertising email. i would say like 10% or less even they did subscribe it. (you might be high because you are an ezine with good content). i think you already did a good job.

Yep, tradeya is right you are doing a good job, your percentage is good.

I think I'll never understand the spam. Sometimes a write 3 lines avoiding all those spam words and the spam percentage is about 3, while many times I write long messages including spam words and the percentage is less than 3. That's crazy...

Maybe you should work on your email subjects??

That's what tempts people to open your mails afterall.

    Also, try text only emails.

    Text only emails?

But it seems that most of people prefer to receive html emails.
