Impressive directory for sale

I actually posted on DP first, then i decided to comment on the thread.

 

Sorry Malcolm, but you are making another stupid assumtion, and there has been enough in this thread. How can i be mixed up in all of this? Because I posted in both threads? You gotta be out of your mind to think that.

Or because i am trying to defend the directory's alexa? i dont think so, i am trying to say that alexa is garbage and some of you are acting unprofessional if you value the whole directory based on alexa traffic.

 

Your right about the "stupid assumption" but when adding up all the factors involved
and your previous track record it was the conclusion i came too,and strictly done by
the preponderance of evidence supplied that made me question the intention.

I will never win the popular vote here because i tend to speak my mind on these things ,this is like DEJA VU all over again.How many times do we have to see a 'unbelieveable' directory listed on sitepoint then people post here to praise it .All it does is make buyers suspecious .

 

nice directory! i won't really go into the alexa debate! but then just one point here: giving out the adsense details publicly is against adsense TOS! those ecpm or whatever details has to be kept hidden else google might take action against the directory!

With a CTR of around 20% I am surprised their adsense is not banned, I have never heard of one so high before.

I guess it is possible, what an amazing niche. I am running of to start an auto part blog.

 

Assuming that the Adsense stats are from that site alone those numbers are quite impressive. It also shows that done well, Adsense is indeed a way to generate revenue from a directory. And imagine that - someone actually making nice money from a FREE directory - very interesting.

Don't know if it was just because of the number of toolbars I have installed, but I wonder how much the CTR is impacted by the "Ads by Google" not showing 'above the fold' with the ads.

I'm glad Aspidov shared this site/sale - it's given me some food for thought. And made me wish I knew more about cars.

 

Also whats with this " Total Posts: 1 (0.00 posts per day)" for the seller ? Hmm, a new member joins sitepoint just to sell a site, why not sell it on ebay instead ?

Plus google will be banning his site from adsense as he posted the screenshot with eCPM , dunno how it goes, but i heard its against googles terms.

Or did google change its terms ?

 

The AdSense revenue screenshots are not proofs. I mean they are not certain. I can create a channel as automobiledir -not a URL channel like automobiledir.com- and preapare a report with even $0 revenue. That is easy.

 

Yes, I agree. It does seem a bit too much for a web directory, but I may be wrong.

Oh dont try to put words in my mouth now . And yes low post count results in have doubts , thats for sure. Come on is 1 post same as 50 posts? Thats 1:50 ratio.
