When you do a Campaign Report does Google take into account, negative keywords, or not? For example, Campaign Widgets - Broad, gets IS of 40%, with lost IS of 60%. Could the lost 60% be because of negative words added to the Campaign?
Negative keywords are factored in, at least according to what the AdWords team has posted. "Impression Share, a new AdWords metric, is similar to share of voice -- it represents the percentage of times your ads were actually shown in relation to the total number of chances your ads could have been shown, based on your keyword and campaign settings." http://adwords.blogspot.com/2007/07/discover-your-share-of-voice-with.html
to my knowledge, negatives are not considered. I have run reports with 100% IS capture and the campaign has tons of negs.
I think maybe we're saying the same thing. Basically your imp share is based on the amount of impressions you could have received based on you built your campaign/ad group. Example ad group keyword 1 negative 1 negative 2 Total impressions available to this ad group - 1,000. You receive 1,000. IS 100% ad group keyword 1 Total impressions available to this ad group - 10,000. You receive 10,000. IS 100%.
ok i agree, we are saying the same thing I did however pitch the idea to Google a few months ago about a negatives report. One that shows us how many searches we are not showing up for due to negatives, and maybe even additional info like search query where it displays the keywords that were blocked this way we can determine if we are accidentally neging out a keyword we really want
