Not sure what happened, but since last saturday, I am getting a ton of traffic (my stats don't say where it is coming from). As a result, my Impressions have skyrocketed, my CTR is 400% better, and my earnings went from $15/avg a day up to $80/avg a day. I see from my webstats that it is directed at one domain of many that I have. It goes with out saying that this is exciting, but going from $15/day to $80/day in a matter of a few days tells me that I'm going to get a big red flag from Google. I emailed Google to be safe about it and their response was that they would check it out at the end of the month when reviewing the numbers. Did I take all the precautionary steps to insure that Google doesn't think I'm trying to do some weird trick. I am paranoid that they will think I did something unscrupulous, when I just have been sitting here and all of a sudden this huge increase suddenly happened. Also, any ideas on why this happened? My webstats show it's not from DIGG or any other Social Bookmarking site, so where the hell could it all be coming from?
what type of site is it? nothing in AWSTATA or Google Analytics? Can't check referrers? Are ads being hit in one or two particular channels? If you are really worried pull the ads for a few days. If nothing is wrong on your site and you notified google let them deal with it when they review your stats.
My awstats show that there is a huge increase in visits from Yahoo search engine. The topic of the site is on photoshop tutorials and I used to get less that 5% ctr on my tutorial page. I am thinking that it is the type of photoshop tutorials that have quadrupled the CTR and that this topic seems to be converting well due to the topic, so they are getting large increases in eCPM. The awstats also show that the visits are going to one tutorial in particular. This made me think that someone posted a link to the tutorial on their popular website, but that should be showing up in the "Referrers" section, but it isn't. It's weird. I would love to figure out where the traffic is coming from so I could replicate the effect, but the only significant info I can gather is that it is from Yahoo search engine. Weird. @Adpubster: When you say direct, do you mean directly typing in the URL or using bookmarks? I do show a significant increase in bookmarks.
Type-ins or ones where the referer doesn't log. Looks like you found the source, though, if you're getting a lot more Yahoo visitors.
Yes, it's from Yahoo search engine, but when you look under the search terms that got people to my page, there is only around 100 or so, where as the stats next to Yahoo says that I got thousands of referrers from their SE. Maybe in time, it'll figure itself out.
