Important question: What are the damages when cutting down a tree?

Hi to everyone,

I am looking for an answer to the following question:

If I cut for example a tree branch, will the damage only occur on the that specific branch or does it damage other parts of the tree? If yes, which parts and why?

I think its directly affectated to the environment.....
Which is harm to us also not only a whole tree....
