Hello everyone, I currently have a website, but someone else performed all of the hosting/server setup - so I am in the dark on this subject My question is: roughly how large of a hosting plan would I need if I was to own approximately 25 unique websites, each website with around 100 pages of written content and each website getting around 150-200 visitors per day? Would an option like Gatorhost work alright with those specifications? (I love to write and need to put all of my extra content somewhere ) Thanks! PS: I know this is the Google forum, but different forums have different readers and since there are so many well-educated readers in this specific forum, I am curious as to what you think.
It's going to depend a lot on the structure of your websites. A website that is primarily text with few graphics could get by on a very basic hosting plan. Meanwhile a website with lots of graphics and a large file size would need a hosting plan that supports much more bandwidth. It also depends if you think your traffic is going to grow over time or if it will stay about even. I assume you meant hostgator not gatorhost. If so, I have dealt with this host and they are one of the better ones. I think it should be sufficient for your needs. They allow you to upgrade your hosting plan at any time if you realize that your plan is not adequate.
shared hosting you be ok but it really depends on how much space each website it. What kind of content does each have. 25 sites is a lot of sits, so you might want to think about a virtual private server or each a dedicated server. If each website is getting 200 views, shared hosting might not be able to keep up with that. Hope this helps Brandon
With 5000k unique visits a day on what kind of setup/script? Meaning are your 25 sites dynamic (php) like Wordpress, drupal, joomla, etc.. or static (just html)?
The sites would likely just be html with a picture or two (30 kb) per article. I am not familiar with anything beyond html really. I have heard that PHP (etc.) really opens up some doors for creativity, but I know nothing about any of it.
