I just understood something guys, maybe it's retarded from your perspective but I just want to confirm , maybe you guys observed it too: I see people say a directory is of a fancy PigeonRank ( Google PR ) , for example 5... So people get all hyped that a directory is PR5. But then when you place a link, it appears in a section that has a PR0, which is SUPER BAD for your PR. Tell me what you think?
I do not agree with this. Just because a directory does not have pr on the inner pages does not mean that it will not get any. Keep in mind that pr is updated all the time. So if a directory has say a pr of 5 on the homepage but 0 on the inner categories this does not mean anything. In real pr time that page may have a pr of 4 or 3 you just can not see it. I think it is really silly for people to not want to submit their sites to inner pages because they see a 0, these people clearly do not understand how page rank is passed.
Why is it so many think that a PR0 page will always remain PR0? Additionally, all links can help improve your SERPs. Those of us with budgets too small to pay for links on the higher PR rated directories can attest to that.
lol anon... To the others: Yes, that's exactly the reason why I asked this important question, to clarify and confrim that I was wrong. Now that I know the truth I'm a better marketer, even though I remain a newb with a site that generates 1,318,000 impressions per month.
That's great about your site. Yes, and even a PR 0 page is not necessarily a bad thing. This very forum topic is a PR 0 right now, but that will change.
Ok so I guess it's an investment type of thing? In 5 years you mean that those PR's will rise and so will your backlink value?
Well as I am dir owner, I must say that advertising it by mentioning PR simply catches people's attention. Of course some assume they could get a PR5 backlink. Those who are smarter of course check inner pages It's true that submitting your link to a PR5 dir is more promising than PR3 dir even if the PR5 dir has PR0 inner page unless that inner page is way deep page, buried in nowhere It is good to know PR5 dir doesn't mean it has PR5 inner page...
Those with a PR0 on inner pages on a PR5 homepage will most likely get a PR3 an average on the next update.
Some may buy because of that. And others simply think it's PR0 page. Next update thing may not be so reliable. Not many are interested in future PR any more. Those directories that are "supposedly" get high PR didn't do so in the last update, for example.
If the page that are PR0 is a deep page, well no PR5 can spread PR that deep, only PR6. Also if you have PR4 on the homepage of a directory it automaticaly states that deep deep level categories ( top > cat 1 > sub cat ) are PR0 (or if not, there must be some kind of other links pointing to it). So well i don't think you should have a headache about it, google is PR10 but it also got some PR3 pages
Ask Directory got PR4 on homepage and PR5 on several detail pages , really depends on the backlinks and internal linking structure
As every other business in the planet investment and good planning of marketing is what it takes to grow. The rest comes with it.
A link is a link so stay calm it helps (i'm talking from experience i got preaty rankings just wit directory links)
