Before you worry about marketing and advertising please do your best to get your affairs in order. If your site isn't already making at least a 15% - 20% conversion on your current traffic, the general marketing forum is probably not for you yet. You need to spend more time reading and learning how to write better, design better, and how to make your traffic want to stay longer, come back, spend money, click on ads, whatever....... There are 2 sites that you should get very familiar with: 1. www.copyblogger.net - This site will teach you how to write great ad copy 2. www.problogger.net - If you are a blogger/web publisher or anyone wanting to do business on the net, you should spend at least an hour a day reading the posts. (Seriously!!!!!). Darren has spent hundreds of hours writing and linking to pretty much every well-written/important article on internet business I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of these 2 sites. They will help you develop an internet business which will grow solid and long roots. Then, grasshopper...... learn the fine art of marketing and advertising. Good Luck
I disagree; the general marketing section of this forum is one of the best places to learn about the stuff you mentioned (traffic, money, etc.) moreso than Problogger or Copyblogger anyway (websites which I do like by the way). That's not to mention that some websites will never get a 15% traffic conversion. I would agree that people should do a lot of reading before they make a website though, and in my opinion, the general marketing forum is a good place to start.
A site that gets a 0% conversion now can multiply it's traffic by 1,000's and what now is the site's conversion rate????? 0 X 1,000,000,000 =
umm i dont get it but what if your a kid with no money like me i have no money to spend thats why i try and do as much as i can with out money.
Great tips for newbies. I especially agree on problogger, that site has it all if you are just starting to earn online.
wyattt's right. A 15-20% conversion is pretty insane if you ask me. While the two sites mentioned in the OP are very informative, the general marketing forum is way more meaty than both, I'm sure. The trick lies in finding the gems in the dirt
Another good post, thanks factchecker . Saying some concrete conversion-% is bit difficult (since there's so many different type of websites, and different type of deals), but I agree that getting the conversion rate up is necessity. 15-20% isn't necessarily insanity... it just depends what you try to get those people to do (can vary from getting sign-ups to phone calls to whatnot)
