Lets take a look at http://www.craigslist.org Under "int'l cities" there are multiple links to their other sites e.g. http://bangkok.craigslist.org/ http://london.craigslist.co.uk/ http://craigslist.fr/ etc... There dont have nofollow and they all interlink with each other, this goes against so many principles that Google talk about. Multiple sites all interlinking. Now if we look at a google search for craigslist http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=craigslist&aq=f&oq=&aqi=n1g10&fp=OzgK0dwM7rU Well we have about 80% of the results going to various craigslist sites. Why is this possible? Dont get me wrong I like this buisness model and it makes a lot of sense to me, sites specifically for each area that can be accessed individually. Its just my sites do exactly the same thing (unique content etc..) and got penalised, why should there be a double standard? People on the google forum told me "well your not craigs list are you" What kind of answer is that, how can I ever be that if there is a double standard? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
There is nothing wrong with Craigslist linking structure, they have portals and subdomains for different categories. Let us see your site and tell us how did you make your site on the same way Craigslist did...
CL is free, fast, stable community and they have a lot of trust assigned by SE, that's why you see them on top.
