Hi All, After a long time.

Just need to know in Google what is importance of simple text back links "http://somesite.com" without href.

I am asking this because when I search for backlinks of a website (links: URL) there were a number of sites listed referencing the searched site by simple text back link (without href in code).

    Any ideas?

my personal take on this: google certainly recognizes and crawls non-href links or "floating links". I've got some of them showing up in my webmaster tools dashboard, now I don't really think they influence the ranking, pass on the PR or any kinda link juice... Just my two cents...

That can't do any good for your rankings in any keyword. If you really want to rank high you must use of anchor text. Then if you want to search for your baclinks. Go to yahoo then type in the search box site:hxxp://www.domain.com" then it will show you he backlinks of the site and the number of pages of the site.

Plain text is not a link without the <a href="mysite.com">mysite.com</a>. It is simply text, though I have heard rumors of in some cases, algorithms picking up these text snippets n some sites, usually only with the http://www. before it tohugh. If it is counted by yahoo in sitexplorer, or in webmaster tools (google) then it has as much value juice wise as any other (though without as much relevancy without a keyword in the anchor unless your site name is one of your main keywords.

You might be guessing (as anyone here, since only Google knows the nuances of the algorithm) if these non-linked urls are counted or not, but think also in other direction: these non-linked urls are shown in SERP when someone wants to check how popular your website and, then, types "yoursite.com" in the Google.
So if you have many of such non-linked urls, that someone will get a lot results with your domain name. That leads to a rise of trust at least in the head of that someone.

P.S. Do not know if this benefit is relevant for your sites, though.

very strange. I never notice that before. It seems strange that search engines recognize some plain text links and ignore the rest.

Must agree with this and few other posts. It counts a little but much, much less then a href link + keyword relevancy is missing.
