Today I read a story of how it is difficult to keep track of all of the people you meet on a regular basis. This made me think about how important it is for you to maintain your contacts, especially when you will need to to launch a website and to help spread the news. I've posted an article on this topic on my blog but I want to know how you manage to keep up with your contacts on a regular basis. As a marketer do you rely on building relationships and do you do anything special to keep that relationship strong OR do you just hope that the relationship will be there when you need it to help you? My article: Entrepreneurs: Make a Habit to Invest in Relationships Thoughts? How important are your relationships for marketing? -CM
Relationships are huge. I used to think I'd be able to get by without really knowing anyone, but the more people I get to know, the more people they introduce me to and the more money I make. While I think you can go this alone, you'll be 100 times more successful when you start to build relationships with people. Especially at the start, focus on what you can do to help them out, not the other way around. Someone who is more successful than you has a 100 people wanting to get something from them. Give first, take later once you've earnt it. I have a bunch of friends who I just msg on skype from time to time. And it's not like I only do it with people who can help me. I spend most of my time chatting to the people I get on with best, I suggest you do the same. Sean
Gotta agree mate. I think the practice of emailing webmasters looking to "exchange links" is a one hit wonder...I'm a firm believer in that first contact and building relationships has really worked wonders for my main project. I try keep in contact on a regular basis to touch base and think that it can only bring better things for your online business. Its all about networking
I say get a facebook account for business and then create a folder in your e-mail program and also have an opt in list that keeps them informed
Personnal relationship gets you close to your web site visitors or your clients. Easier to recommend something when you do not have an "unknown status". That is why, social marketing is so important for affiliates for instance to increase their conversion rate. Make your relationship an investment: I do like this concept. And you have a complete course of internet marketing, social marketing to increase your conversion rate at internet-marketing-notion.blogspot.com
You guys all provided great points. Thanks for following my thread. On this point, today I've installed Google Friend Connect to my blog. I am hoping to grow a community like I have with Twitter. This way I can have dedicated followers of my site. What do you think of Google Friend Connect? Be my first friend at startupbooster.com I've came to conclusion that at the end of the day, it is all about your personal networks. You have to give before you ask. This is another article I've written recently on my blog as well. Grow your network by just giving first. When your turn comes, it will come automatically.
Hello CM, Working on creating and then nurturing a relationship is wise. Once a friendship is established - some amount of trust will follow As the trust grows many business and personal favors can be exchanged Call it Pay it Forward or Good Karma - either way it works and pays off like nothing else like it!!!! All in all, what we want to do is to help others. Zig Ziglar says that if we will "help others get what they want, we will in turn get what we want." Best Regards
Hi CM, marketing depends on trust and relationship. Especially in internet world it is very much mandatory. unless you don't maintain good and friendly relationship with others, it is difficult to get growth in business. http://topebooks4u.com
I saw my page views and comments did well with Google Friend Connect. Now I have four followers. I also added my Twitter followers which I have about 3600 followers. I see difference in visitor participation since then. Hoping to increase the network and add value to my visitors.
I keep in contact via email and blogging. I haven't really jumped on using Twitter for that purpose, though I assume it would be useful for that as well. I think building a relationship boils down to continually offering value to them as well as letting your own personality shine through so that they can relate to you. I've also seen people use things like contests to get people involved as well.
