Hello friend, google pagerank is to determine the importance of a website or a webpage.the higher your google PR,the higher your website would be listed on google search result.
All kinds of questions like these on forums, and it amazes me that the answer never mentions that it will likely take a year to see any results, or that you might never see an increase in the toolbar ever.
I think PR still matters. Why would Google still have PR if it wouldn't count for your ranking. Maybe it doesn't matters a lot, because there are many other factors which determine your ranking even better. And why is everyone saying that PR doesn't matter? They don't know the exact google algoritme.
Yes, pagerank and SERPs are completely different, but it's kind of hard to say what the importance of pagerank on SERPs is because it's unknown. All we have to go on is the toolbar value which may be a year or more old, or may have never been updated for that page. You can't really relate such an old and crusty value with search results done today.
Well, it only depends - are you trying to sell links? Then your PR is important, but Google doesn't hold a high PR to any standards, its your content, and links that truly matter. Because, a low PR, can out rank a high PR, depending on the site's relevancy, authority, and content. Screw PR man, focus on developing your site; its content, and its backlinks. If your PR goes up, then so be it.
