IS much wieght given to Out bound links? If so do the same rules apply as for inbound links (relevence, PR, anchor text etc).

    Thanks

Not sure, but they get some weight more or less..

    The less outbound links,the better.

This is a subject of a lot of debate ad I have done my own experiments.

While it could have been one of a hundred factors, I took a new domain in a medium difficulty niche and added 10 outgoing links on the main page to trusted sites. Google, Dmoz, Yahoo etc.

The site SHOT up the SERPS and outranked the number one contender. Assuming the Google sandbox is real, I waited. One year later, it's still #1

For 6 months I actually didn't even have a product or much content on the site. My loss I guess.

I think that it could show some relevance to G, but IMO the effect will be very small.

Good or bad, it is a good idea to link to relevant resources...

Linking to websites that'll help the user *is said to be useful* never really changed much for me.

yeah linking to related and quality sites never going to hurt you. You you must not do it in excess. and i believe contents driven links are good. but those in the left bar or footer is not.
