hi, now a days i have seen that most of the site does not contain meta keywords. meta keywords is a imporatnt part of the SEO rit?..but currently most of them are not used it why?..is it effecting the keyword promotions?
Many people don't use meta keywords anymore because they have lost their importance. When ranking sites, Google for example, doesn't even "look" at the keywords. But anyway, the title tag is still important.
Besides Meta Keywords and your title is there any other ways to help your site show up in search engines? Thanks
Yeah...you could place the keywords in H1 tag, in the first paragraph (it's better to bold the keyword). Anyway don't overuse the keywords...Google and other search engines won't like it. Then you should get as many backlinks as you can (blog comments, forum posts, article submission, directory submission, press releases...)
Google no longer refers to the meta keywords at all, it only bases Search Engine Results on keywords that are on page, in the URL (correct me if I am wrong please!), and the sites that are linking to that site using either the domain name or your keywords as the anchor text.
Google doesn't give importance to Meta keywords but Yahoo still gives importance to it for ranking a websites.
Yahoo is not the only other one that does. Bing, Ask and a few others are reported to use them too. Nobody really knows for sure. Even if just one of 20 search engines does it, why not take the extra 10 seconds and include it? It cannot hurt, only help.
In my opinion it's still worth including keywords meta tag. Well, if you think google is the only search engine there is no need for it.
I suggest not including meta keywords at all. All it does is give your competitors a list of all the keywords you are trying to rank for
