Importance of link placement

    I am working on small SEO experiment, and was wondering what the SEO's here thought of link placement in relation to google's measured "importance" of that link.

    Do you think google gives more weight (and transfer more PR) to the first X number of links on a page?

    If so, how much more important is it to be in this top X number of links?

    What do you think this X is? 1, 10, 20?

    Some people say yes, some people say no.
    I Tend to belive that google spread the PR equaliy to all links .

    Placement of links is very important to Google. A footer link would be worth much less than a link inside the content of the page. Google looks for natural links and footer or side-menu links doesn't look very natural :)
