Hello everyone! What do you think about how importante the layout is regarding google rank oder page rank? Does it make a difference wheater my site is Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional or not? How importante is it to have a tableless layout? Thanks for your opinion Markus
Having your websites code valid will help search engines to crawl your website as well as making it easier for users to surf your website and speed up the loading time of your website.
As far as the crawlers can browse your site you will be OK (even with some small errors here and there).

validation wont help it rank better at all. it cant hurt, but it isn't worth worrying about in terms of rankings. xhtml / css / tableless designs can help in comparison to table designs. check the new layout through a lynx viewer to see how the CSS presents the design to a BOT. for example some designs show the right-hand side first, if your nav is that side, make sure you get keywords into it and you're off to a good start in the past we've taken the content from our old sites and put it into a clean new template and seen them just creep upwards and upwards with no other changes.
