Importance of keywords in URL? For a forum.

    Hello DP,

I've totally new to AdSense but after reading a book on it, it has recommended the use of keywords in file names.

I plan to use AdSense on a vBulletin forum, and so will not have any influence over the filenames which are produced due to it being dynamic.

So what I'm thinking is - say my site is:

    newyork.com

I could place the forum in:

    newyork.com/newyorkforums

This would get the keywords 'new york forums' in all the forum's pages, which as my site is focused on one geographic area, would help me get more relevant ad's.

I'm thinking just using the subdirectory 'forums' would be an opportunity lost.

Do you think is a good idea?

What would you recommend I do?

    Thanks very much :)

No, just use newyork.com/forum or forum.newyork.com

In the keywords configuration page implemented in vBulletin, you will have to stuff it up with any keywords that come to mind. E.G. city, nightlife, clubs, drink, new, york, new york, events, united states, usa, new amsterdam

And much, much, more. You would have to use a brief description in meta description as well. Make sure you explain everything about what your site is, in two small sentences. Last but not least, make lots of posts/threads with a lot of content so when Google spiders are going to scan through your website, they will scan the most competitive words, and some other less competitive ones.

Also, when you start making some money, I suggest you get vBSEO. It's just amazing!
