It is prefered to use less characters in domain name because it is said that domain name should be easy so that it could be remembered quickly.
people don't need to remember it if you are targeting search traffic. i don't care no one can remember my domain but if the big g is sending me 10000s of visitors
It matters how you market. For search engines keyword in the domain makes it a lot easier to rank well. If you are using other types of marketing that involve people remembering the name of your site then thats another story.
And if possible get an exact match keyword domain, they aint pretty, but the effort to get them on first page is a fraction of a diluted keyword domain,or a domain without keyword at all. getting harder to find and now commanding a premium more and more with the registrars. if you cant find myexactkeyword then my-exact-keyword in doman works just as well
Great advice, having the keyword in the domain is fantastic, but ofcourse finding those keywords and getting the domain is a little bit harder
- Thats very interesting - ****Aids in click through ratio, not rankings***** Are saying if you had duckbill.com and you where a handyman in new york - you would rank ratings higher then a keyword domain??? be clear .. thanks .... im inquiring
Always try using your main keywords of your website in your domain name. However, try to limit the length of your domain name by taking out unesscary words such as, "a, and, the" etc. Only the "main" keywords are the important ones.
