Importance of internal links...

    Hello,

What is the importance of internal links in addition of regular menus?
What number is correct and which one is spammy?
    Which scheme to use?

I was thinking to do something like key phrase linking. For example in an article the phrase "travel with pets" will link to the article Tips for Traveling with Pets etc...

    Thank you
    Pierre

To get the idea on internal linking you may want to read this document Internal linking website . Yes it is important, not only for the SE's but think about the benefit for you users that can easily navigate to a next page. ;)

yes, I agree. A good menu and navigational structure can both make or break you in the eyes of the SE's AND the eyes of a user. And what point is the traffic from the SEs if you can't convert your users anyway?

    Menus are key! :)

    I think that it's a great idea!

Interlinking between pages and keywords within your site is good for users if not too messy, and might help with some SE too.

You should avoid too much decoration of the links if the keyword is buried in the text as it might disrupt the reading.

Maybe just a slightly different color and I would avoid the underline (text-decoration:none;).

Also, just the main keywords in each paragraph as too many would cause the same problem as above, distracting the user.

A perfect example would be a technical page such as a tutorial with links to other pages or to a glossary of terms, etc.

Internal links also help spreading within the site PR if you're interested, and helps users not miss any parts.

Of course that can't replace HTML menus!

a well optimized site with good internal linking will have a high percentage of double stacks (2 results with one indented) in the google serps

Great points here, Also If the internal linking structure isn't correctly set up it will influence total seo results negatively as well.

Along with alot of other things, internal linking will improve your bounce rate, and score you more CPM impressions if you are using CPM ads on site already. Internal links engage users much more as well, shows the users that you care by providing related content, etc etc

when a home page bet backlink form one of it's inner page is it due to internal linking.
Or sometimes inner page gets backlink from other inner page of the same website.
