Your domain name is your online address and it’s important because people will reach you (domain branding) via this address. Choosing a good domain name is crucial. Generally, short, easy-to-remember domain names are best.

A domain name can serve for the following purposes:
    1. It points out the main purpose of your web site.
    2. It reflects the character of the merchant.
    3. It can contain keywords that can be use to optimize your website. (But be sure to have good keyword research before doing this.)

The importance of the right domain name can not be overstated imo.
Your domain IS your brand. Also, as everyone here knows, a keyword relevant domain name goes a long way in the quest to reach high rankings on SERPs.

A lot of SEO guys will say buy an "exact match domain," which means a DM that matches your most targeted keyword phrase. I follow this rule as long as it doesn't make the site sound cheesy. I firmly believe that with the right site structure and on-page SEO being done, you'll have far better results with a domain name that doesn't sound spammy.

    For example:

Instead of "smallbusinessaccountantsinlosangelesca, com" I would go with something like, "QualityAccounting.com" or "ProAccountants.com." Even though the DM doesn't match my target keyword phrase "small business accountants los angeles ca," the DM makes much more sense and looks more legitimate.

Less than 20 characters (less than 10 if you want typeins)/(.com .net .org)/keyword domain is good as long as you do not spam keyword in site/domain calling to action or naming possession is good (YOURsomething.com somethingNOW.com)/if you want to go local get local words for domain/uniqueness of a domain name if you're looking to build a business is far better in the long run than keywords
