Hello guys, Im new to this industry, field, or whattever you call it. I am planning to make a small website. An Informative/blog website regarding a certain hobby. I have a couple of questions though. hope you guys could help me out. Is domain name really important? since most short lettered domain names are already taken, how easy/hard is it (in the SEO point of view) to have a completely unrelated domain name to rank in google or other search engines? By this i mean for example having the domain name "digitalpoint.com" as domain but having a skateboarding topics as content.. Would this affect the rate of improvement of the website in SEO? How long would it usually takes for a new domain to be initially indexed in search engines? Thanks..
ITs normally good to have a keyword in the domain but I wouldnt worry about that too much, if you can have a niche related domain but even that doesn't matter to much!
Keyword into domain name matters a lot, but most of the best domain names are already registered and all those long domains won't make sense to returning visitors. My strategy is like this: If I can't get short keyword domain in particular niche I buy some short domain that can be brandable, for instance my site would be about "doctors" then I could come up with doctorhub.com, doctorland.com or whatever sounding combination that comes into your mind and can be used as brand
It doesnt matter as much as it did say 2 years ago! Go for a brand then think about keywords, if you want then simply work out a good url structure
it will totally depend on your On page and Off page SEO quality. and yes of course Keywords in the domain name is preferable. some searchers search in the browser directly by sing the keyword.com so its preferable. thanks
