G'day to Everyone, I want to know that how much we get the traffic due to directory submissions and how much it effected to increase the ranking of a site. If anyone have idea then write here. Thanks flybliss
You get very little traffic from directories, but dir. submissions can surely help you in improving your SERPs.
It is true that traffic from directories is not much unless directories themselves have lot of traffic and in the process divert them your way. Some good directories dont' just give you a link, they also add writeup about your site or provide links at relevant places which helps end user to come to your site eg familyfirst.com doesn't appear to be a directory - and has good traffic so organic visitors to the site would eventually get directed to one of the listed / listings.
Definitely directory submission will provide atleast tiny amount of traffic to your site. But do prefer high quality directory to submit your links. do prefer Dmoz yahoo directory and so on.
Impossible to estimate how much traffic you would get, impossible to say how much it would increase your ranking too.
Did you even bother to check the sticky post at the top of this category before starting this thread?
you probably wont get much traffic, but a good directory submission strategy can help your site's visibility in search engines for sure
You just have to select those directories with higher PRs... If you have business and your service is limited in a local area, just submit your site in local directories. Actually they're free but too much informations are needed during registration.
I didn't even get any traffic from directory submission. But directory submission is one of the best methods to get popularity for your website.
The traffic depends on the directory. Most wont send you any because they focus on getting submission traffic rather than user traffic. The ones that focus on user traffic might send you a few - but it depends on how well your submission is written etc, like any marketing campaign, and also how much traffic that particular category of the directory gets. I've personally been tracking outbound traffic on my directory (AbcToMe.com), and found that it's mostly the premium links, or links listed in the "Top Rated" that gets the most traffic, but there's loads of exceptions to that. For search engines directory submission is an important cornerstone of any campaign. As for quantitative amounts, as pipes said, it would be impossible to estimate [in terms of traffic] and impossible to reliably measure [in terms of search engine effectiveness]. It's definitely worth it, especially as a mid-long term strategy.
Directory submission will definitely increase your rank with search engines thus increasing your chances in landing at the top of search results. But this will not guarantee huge traffic to your website, it depends how many users are searching for your niche and taking into account the competition that exist.
