Importance of Directories

These days there have came up with loads of other ways for SEO. So does directory submissions really help to get goo ranking????

 

Sure does, if your anchor text is on PR1 or better (hardly happens), and PR0 is good - if you're in a niche-specific directory. I get hits to my site just from niche-specific directories.

 

of course, my opinion that dmoz give valuable backlinks........

 

Directories should be a part of your overall link building strategy. I always start with niche directories and then branch out from there to the better general directories. I've had good success getting a site jump started this way.

 

By itself? No... Collectively with target links, and other forms of promotion, of course.

 

I agree 100% with this comment. Directories are a part of not the solution to your SEO campaign.

 

It is one of the most popular SEO strategies that are performed to get good page rank and more traffic as well. However how it is useful is not sure but helpful.

1) its easy way to create back links
2)its cheaper to get back links from dirs, even free.
3)take less time in creating backlinks to site, if u use some directory submissions services,or some kinda softwares

 

Directories is the one thing I havent done yet..

Most of the ones I have looked at are US only

No doubt Directories has an important role for SEO campaign , but as mentioned in early comments that this is the part of SEO Campaign but not the Complete solution.

 

I have one site which I have solely promoted through directory submissions and I am pretty pleased with the results so far.

 

Not much important in my SEO campaigns! I always try less than 200 directories for my sites.

 

Directory submission still helps as long as you can get back links with this technique though you have to wait long in order to get results. Usually it takes two to three months before the administrator approves your URL.

 

Web Directories are still respected by search engines specially human edited ones. Not all one way backlinks are created equal and the quality of backlinks you get from good web directories have better quality than backlinks you get from forums.

 

yeah!it really helps a lot because once you have a quality content,do a submission,it's one of the best SEO tool.

 

Though directories not the solution for seo, but it plays a major role in increasing the pr, getting authority from search engines and to clearly distinguish your site about what niche it belongs to search engines. (While submitting to right categories)

But Dmoz is not accepting new sites. Then how come dmoz can give the backlinks??
