Importance of Backlinks

Hello,
I've been trying to make backlinks for my website, and I think I have left 10 to 12 backlinks on different sites.
But still alexa saying only 1 backlinks and when I check the lonely backlink nothing appears on alexa. I checked for backlinks on other sites as well
some say 4 backlinks and some say 5.
Can someone please tell how to get 100 or 200 backlinks at least.

It all really depends on your goal. If you want to get higher PR for your website, then 2-3 PR3 backlinks will do the trick.
