Find a host that can hold a WordPress blog. If you get one that offer an auto install via their control panel then its easier.

    Follow these steps:

You need a hosting package that is PHP/MySQL enabled. If unsure about this, ask their support to confirm first before buying.

    1. Create a MySQL database for the WP installation. Some hosting panels like cPanel will require you to create a MySQL username, and link it to the database, too.
    2. Unzip the WP package in an empty directory.
    3. Open up wp-config-sample.php with a text editor like WordPad or similar and fill in your database connection details.
    4. Save the file as wp-config.php
    5. Upload everything.
    6. Open /wp-admin/install.php in your browser. This should setup the tables needed for your blog. If there is an error, double check your wp-config.php file, and try again. If it fails again, please go to the support forums with as much data as you can gather.
    7. Note the password given to you.
    8. The install script should then send you to the login page. Sign in with the username admin and the password generated during the installation. You can then click on 'Profile' to change the password.

Look at it from a different angle.
Basically, any PHP/MySQL hosting package should be Wordpress compatible. There aren't any WP specific server requirements you need to be aware of. It's very easy to install and it's running smoothly.

Perhaps, if you plan to enable SEF url's on your blog, then the hosting account needs to have mod_rewrite turned on, other than that no big deal around it.

Lastly, statements like "We provide Joomla Hosting" or "Wordpress Hosting" are just marketing tips for newbies, for their own piece of mind, and for faster sale ;)
It's easier than that in fact.
