Imperative WordPress Plugins

I know there are some old threads that exist that have people asking "What Plugins should I use?" but I want this thread to be more like "I cannot live without this plugin!"

I would say that one of the most important is Akismet for spam.

The only one I always have installed is the google sitemap one that makes the sitemap and pings google each time to spider the site. Not sure if it really helps that much, but I figure its worth the 10 seconds it takes to install.

I don't quite get the usefullness of Simple Tags. What benefit do they bring to the blog?

Well i always use the crawlpage maker plugin and useronline plugin for my blogs.
Crawlpage is benefcial for better crawling by spiders. User online is for fun. I love to watch those stats.

Akismet (already heavily endorsed in this thread)
IG Syntax Highlighter (if you're posting programming snippets)
Universal Tag Warrier - I don't utilise it for the technorati bits, but it creates a great tags cloud (all that extra internal navigation ;))

And my own amazon plugin ;) sorry, but it's not robust enough for release.

Allow's you to easily tag your posts by putting them, seperated by comments, in [tag ] and [/ tag] brackets, like BB code. Then you combine that with Wordpress's auto-ping feature and BOOM! Er, rather, instant Tag & Ping.
