Good Morning Everyone Could I seek the opinion of those of you who are experts in SEO-because I am not an expert. On 1 September 2007 I launched my website http://www.aluxurygift4you.com using Easywebstore as the e commerce provider. I also have the .co.uk domain name which is "pointing" towards the .com site. I am considering moving the site to EKM Powershop to a more professional looking template. Since 1 September I have had about 200 visits (in total-not each day and only 1 sale). EKM are offering me a trial period for 3 months whereby they will not charge their normal monthly fee. I would appreciate your comments re any implications from an SEO perspective. I do not have a Google Page ranking yet. I have some backlinks (not reciprocal). Should I just transfer the .com domain name over to the EKM site and immediately cancel the site with Easywebstore or should I use the .co.uk domain name for the EKM site and "point" the .com domain name to the .co.uk domain name. Or should I run both sites with Easywebstore under .com and EKM under .co.uk for 2 or 3 months - I ask this because I am unsure if any "rankings" I will have built up with the search engines since 1 September would be lost by moving the .com domain name? Thank You in advance for your help. Regards Alan Hope
These things can be tricky to say the least. I think that if you are planning to use the .com domain you should use it 100% as soon as possible. Its fine to have the other domains as a protection from others using them and so on but you should focus your efforts on one domain in the link building. Google won't list both your domains. Get your new backlinks pointing to the domain you're gonna stick with. The domain you're not gonna promote should do a 301 permanently moved redirect to the one you will use. So I guess if I were you, I'd redirect the domain you are using now to the new servers instead of running two sites etc.
