    Hi ,

A few weeks ago a website of mine dropped in ranks (40 positions) from #3 for his main word .

Today I noticed that google shows 1000+ pages in his index all supplemental , these pages weren't in google index as these are pages that are no longer on the website .

Can this be a reason for drop in rankings ? Anyone else noticed that ?

    Thanks

Search the forum for "supplemental pages". You'll find hundreds of posters saying these same things. It's a huge issue for a lot of us. Doesn't seem to be an issue at all for the folks at google though.

P.S. Don't bother emailing google. They won't acknowledge it. And they certainly won't address it or provide any info about it.

What makes this happen, is it not usually duplicate content?

One of my theories is that the more pages one site has and the less quality links, the bigger % of them are in supplemental index.

The folks at google are to busy counting thier money to care about this issue. Thier email help is a joke. They probably invested millions in state of the art autoreponders.

Some of the sites could simply be just unlucky.
