Hi, I just received one permanent link from a PR9 page, and 2 more from PR8 pages. From your experience, how will this impact my site? Should I expect a bump in search engine rankings, or just a little (or big?) bump in PR (I'm PR5 now)? Thanks!
PR really depends on the number of outbound links, with 1 pr9 and 2 pr8 you could achieve PR6 or PR7. To SERP depends on the context of the link and relation of the subject site with yours.
Are these links from the content or links from the side nav? I think you will get a fair bump in the SERPS.
One of the PR8 links is a content link, the other two links are basically from blogrolls. On the rolls, I'm one of ~150 links ... which if I understand PR correctly, this diminishes the Google PR love that will flow my way, right?
For SERP content links are better, for PR any link will do, the more external links the page contains the lower the PR flow. PR9 is a very powerful link even with 100 outbound could have great power. I know a site that got PR8 because of a PR9 page with 70 outbounds.
You can also get a massive boost in ranking if links are relevant and serps will get affected (means indexed fast, etc) In affect, you must also submit to few directories because if there is not much support from lower quality links, then you might not attain the full you could. It will help more, if you support some links with lower PRs also. It will benefit you more than you can imagine. Take the full potential of 8-9s By the way, how did you get a permanent PR9 bought ?
No, I actually did a link exchange for the PR9 (or more accurately, one of my contributors did). Although I just checked and it looks like they were reduced to PR8 for their most recent update, poopies.
anita, great job..am a regular reader of your blog..you really cracked it my dear. i guess you should get a minimum PR6 or PR7 (if u get lucky) i got about 2 Pr7 inbound sidebar links..i have PR5
