Been pretty good so far. Increase in visitors doesn't help show up any major differences in earnings due to more visitors means more clicks, generally. However today, CTR is over 50% down than usual.

CTR of 50%? I'd be a but concerned that'll show a red flag at Google if you are getting this consistantly. If you are doing everything ok and adhereing to TOS then you wont have nothing to worry about. But if you are not......beware.

That's not at all what he's saying.

Down 50% If he had 10% before, he's getting 5% now. At least that's how I read his post.

I just think you were having a had day. The financial situation would have no effect on CTR.

I think (hope it's so as well) that contextual advertising like adsense will see an uptake in use due to the current economic "issues". Businesses usually look to cut costs in recessionary times and look for more efficient and effective was to get customers. I think adwords/adsense fits that bill to a T. (Plus good tracking.)

As for the web viewers, I somehow suspect that web traffic could even go up with an extended economic downturn. The only concern I have is if things are bad enough that people decide to start cutting the internet connection to save money. To me that's unthinkable because for it's a utility on par with electricity.

So... I'm hoping that well see better returns on our adsense blocks in the coming months.
