Impact of "closing" or redirecting PR5 site to my main site

I have two sites that have similar content. One is more a niche site for a particular product. I haven't had time to update the site, but it's a PR5. I'm not sure what to do with it and the thought of closing it down has crossed my mind. I'd then redirect everything to my main site which covers the same topic. The site gets "ok" rankings, but I'm wondering how much juice the main site will get if I redirect this site to it. The main site is currently a PR 6 with good rankings.

Q: Does it make sense to redirect an existing PR5 site with "ok" rankings to a main site (PR 6). What positive impact will the redirect have on the main site? Should I just keep the old site and look for revenue opportunities within that site?

    TIA

If they cover similar topics then I would seriously consider the redirect.

I'm getting about 10k-13k uniques right now. I'm thinking most wouldn't return, since the content isn't fresh. I'm curious as to the "link juice" I'd get by redirecting to the big site? How would Google handle this?

As long as you do a proper 301 redirect, ( redirect from www.oldexample.com/widgetpage5.html to www.newexample.com/widgetpage5.html) then you should eventually get all the link juice to the new pages on the new site, which will help all pages on the site if you have properly set up your navigation and sitemap for distributing linkjuice.

I've read estimates from 30-90 days for Goog to totally digest the 301 redirect.
