img tag within h1 - SEO safe?

    Hi All,

I am aware of the importance of heading tags in website design. Typically my websites tend to have a header which remains the same throughout the site. Usually, this is an image. What I tend to do is use the alt tag in the image to insert the relevant text, and then wrap the whole thing within <h1> tags.

I then use h2 tags for my subheader, which will contain more specific keywords for the page (usually the actual keywords that i'm hoping to aim for).

Is this approach a bad idea when it comes to SEO? If people believe so, what are your alternative solutions?

    Many thanks,

    Jamie
