This is how i got as the result of trying different things on my different sites:

Add regular imgs = increase about .5 % of control per day
Add gif animations = increase about 1-2%
Add flash .. like a short movie = increase a lot a first couple days (5%) but then, it went down to usual rate after a while.

how about u? what do u do to increase ur adsense control rate?

I use random images and it works fine. Animated image is okay... but don't you think using Flash is a bit much?

I'd be carefulyl with the animated images... Google might deem that to be drawing undue attention to your ads.

I don't see the difference between animated and static images. As long as both types contain images that are related to the site's topic, what difference does it make when G sees them?

the fact that one of them is jumping up and down, doing backflips on the page, and flashing at them... and one is just an image.

Basically it my understand that Google is hesitant on the whole images next to the ads, if it is done in an excessive of obviously manipulativel way designed to encourage users to click the ads thinking that they are something else, like related to the the images.

So whilst I haven't emailed Google in regards to the issue of placing animated images next to the ads, I'd be quite confident they'd deem it a breach of TOS because the images draw undue attention to the ads.
